Not Much Knitting, But Lots of Walking. The Sun's Been Out!

We are fortunate to have some wonderful walking trails in our area. One of them that we like to explore is what used to be railroad tracks. The rails have been removed and replaced by nicely kept trails. Someday this trail will span 42 miles!

It was still a bit foggy when we were on the part of the trail that goes between 2 beach parks.

This is a reminder that the trail was once a railroad line. Inside the "station" there are some very interesting posters about local our history.

This is a piece of artwork created entirely by old rail nails that were collected by people in the area who gave them to the artist.

So if you ever come to this part of the world, this trail is fun to explore, and it's also FLAT! (However, if you like hills, we have lots of them, too.)

Love Rails to Trails walks. We have some interesting ones nearby, including one that goes into the old Bethlehem Steel factory.

Sounds like a good bike trail.

Flat trails are the best. There is a trail called the "Hiawatha Trail" that is by the south end of Coeur d'Alene that is made of an old railroad bed too. How fun to go riding or hiking along the trail. I don't know of anthing like that here that is in a safe place.
Blessings,
Betsy

We've got a trail that used to be a railroad line also. I sure wish it still was because a direct line to downtown DC from the beach sounds like a good idea to me. I always wonder why it was abandoned.

Love it. Where we used to live their was an old rail trail. Its a nice wide accessible gravel trail that went all the way from Hamilton to Brantford. (19 miles) It goes by cliffs, through forests and valleys, through farm fields. It was a great place to explore.

What a fun trail!
I went for a walk today. It was 20 degrees -- tropical compared to most of January!
