Not Much Knitting, But Lots of Walking. The Sun's Been Out!

We are fortunate to have some wonderful walking trails in our area. One of them that we like to explore is what used to be railroad tracks. The rails have been removed and replaced by nicely kept trails. Someday this trail will span 42 miles!

It was still a bit foggy when we were on the part of the trail that goes between 2 beach parks.

This is a reminder that the trail was once a railroad line. Inside the "station" there are some very interesting posters about local our history.

This is a piece of artwork created entirely by old rail nails that were collected by people in the area who gave them to the artist.

So if you ever come to this part of the world, this trail is fun to explore, and it's also FLAT! (However, if you like hills, we have lots of them, too.)

A Tiny Finish

After lots of rain and fog, we finally got some sunshine!  Hurrah! It didn't stick around though, so we are glad we took a walk when we did.

This little hedgehog was a bit of a challenge as he's only about an inch long!

Perhaps you've heard on the news about a landslide in our city?  That house is a little more than a mile away from us and will probably have to be demolished. There are 7 other homes nearby where the occupants aren't yet allowed. The probable cause was a broken watermain on the hill above. We sure feel bad for all of those affected!

 Take care and remember to count your blessings!

Finish #3

 This is a fun and interesting pattern, but this time it fought me until the very end.  At least it's done now. And for some reason I just cast on another one! It's called the Quick Switch Hat.

It was really nice here the other day, so we took our walk on the trail in a nearby canyon. After all the recent rain, the streams was full and so were the water falls.

We were passed up by this pair, and the dog kept looking back at us, probably wondering why we were so slow. The woman got a ways up the hill and then the dog just took off and made that hill look easy.  It's not!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Happy January!

As you may have heard, our state has had almost 6 inches of rain this month! However, we did have one gorgeous day last Sunday and had a great view of Mount Baker when we took our walk. This mountain gets lots of snow, and the last time we were there in the summer, there was still snow in the parking lot even though it was 80 degrees outside!

One of our crazy Christmas cactus plants thinks it's still December and is having its last word. One flower is better than none, right?

~~~~~~~~
Have a nice day! We are off on a walk before it starts to pour...again. No more finishes yet; I have been fighting with a hat for a couple of days now. Sigh.
Finish # 2!
Hope you didn't fall out of your chair, but I finished this pair of socks yesterday and am hoping they'll fit their recipient!
The pattern is on Ravelry and is called Winter Wonderland. It was a challenging pattern!
Nothing else to report except the above icicles are long gone. It was 50 degrees here today, and the rain got rid of most of the snow.  However, I guess all the mountain passes were closed due to avalanche danger after all the recent snow.  Apparently the pass nearest us got 102" of snow, the most in 20 years!
My First Finish of 2022
 Yep, it's a Flat Rat bookmark for our grandson who turns 10 today. (Sure don't know how that happened as it seems just yesterday that we were driving up his folk's icy hill to help out.)
Our hill is still very icy, so we probably won't get over to Magnolia, a place with hills even worse than our, until the weekend. The snow's supposed to be gone by then.  We'll see!
Hope January is going well for all of you!
Happy January Second!
The snow is melting, but it's still icy here!
We think these icicles  are the guilt party and have dripped on everything below!
A yard decoration disguised
Will this poor plant even survive?
Enjoy the last day of this holiday weekend!  And have a happy and healthy 2022!
