Walks and Some More Hats

In case you've heard about all the rain in the PNW, I wanted you to know that the sun comes out once in a while, too.  There is snow in the mountains though, lots of water in the streams, and occasionally a beautiful sunset.

And besides our walks, I've had time to finish two more hats!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!

A Couple of Finishes Plus Two Surprises

It's been rainy and very windy here. Luckily we've not had any power outages, at least so far. We did find some interesting things in our yard though.

A November rose!

How did the tree know that we needed some pine boughs for our flower box out front?

My most recent hat project. The zigzag design was fun!

I hope this has arrived by now! It's for my great niece and in the school colors of Loyola University in Chicago where she began her studies in the fall.

OK, now it's back to work on my other projects!  Have a good week!

Some Amazing Quilts!

In spite of the rain here, we found something fun to do. The Block Party Quilters had their first show since 2019, and we went there yesterday afternoon. I am always amazed at the creativity and talent. Here a just a few samples. (If you live in the area, the show is on all weekend.)

Those cute little bears are made of furry fabric!

There were several Halloween quilts.

Here's one for Christmas.

As a fan of music, I loved this one.

Lots of little squares in this one!

This quilter must know a bit about science as well as quilting.

The camera emphasized the 3-D of this quilt. All those hexagons are made from circles folded into squares. I have no idea how it was sewed together!  There are also lots of beads sewn on, too.

These two have an amazing amount of applique on them.

This interesting one has lots of handwork.

Now it's time for me to get back to work on some of my projects for holiday gifts!  Hope you enjoyed this tiny bit of the show!

Friday Felines

Our wonderful cat sitters sent us these photos of Ginger when we were in Cannon Beach. It doesn't look like she misses  us much, does it.  They bring catnip and string toys, and she looks forward to seeing them.

Not Too Much to Report but a Few Adventures!

Well, hello, I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!  All is well here. We actually got away for a few days and went to our favorite spot in Oregon, Cannon Beach. It was pretty rainy, but we did get in a couple of walks on the beach despite the high tide.

There were lots of big logs that washed up on the beach and even this rope.  Both are covered with lots of barnacles which made the shore birds happy.

This walkway down to the beach was filled with logs and sand. It would have been interesting to see those logs fly over the concrete walls!

There are lots and lots of bunnies that roam around. We were watching one big tan rabbit when a hawk swooped in and clipped my shoulder but missed the bunny! As you can see from the photo, the rabbits are pretty tame and do a good job clipping the grass.

We finally had a beautifully sunny day on Sunday. It was Halloween and also 57 years since we met at at a Halloween party. So we celebrated by a walk around a local lake and dinner out.

On our walk we spotted this heron and were amazed at how well it blended in to its surroundings. It was looking for food but turned once so we got its photo.

That's it for now.  Have a great day, and I hope to have some finishes soon!
