Happy almost New Year! And a Few Finishes

The reindeer have come and gone!

 

But the amaryllis keeps getting bigger every day.

I finished these two hats, one for the friend who's undergoing cancer treatment and the other for a new baby.

I also finally finished this project for my sister.

I hope everyone has been having an enjoyable holiday season and wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

Another Finish and a Couple Other Photos

These mitts are done! It's the second pair I've made with this pattern, and they knit up quickly.

 I meant to post this photo earlier and hope it doesn't make you sore just looking at it! Our grand daughter and her friend were practicing on the balance beam that Dick made for her. Just last week her team won first place!

And this photo makes me sad! Practically every time I've walked lately, I've picked up lots of trash. I guess people just toss it out of their cars when they drive down our local streets. Between the trash on the streets and the fact that folks are no longer following the speed limits here, it makes walking not very fun anymore.  I hope where you all live, it's much better!!

Another Finish and Our Crazy Plant!

I finally finished this hat and just discovered it's the fourth time I've used this pattern! This time, however, it fought me all the way for some odd reason.

Our good friend gave us this Amaryllis recently, and it's sprouting with the biggest flower bud we've ever seen. It also looks like there's another bud as well. Wow!

Well, it's time to get back to the rest of my "finish in December" projects.

Some Night Time Fun!

Last night the skies were clear, the moon was out, and we watched the Space Station fly over our house at about 5:45 PM thanks to a notification from NASA. You can get these emails, too, by signing up at Spot The Station | NASA

You will only get the notifications when the ISS is visible where you live. It's fun to watch it move across the sky and imagine what the astronauts are doing and what they can see. Try it, it's fun!

Happy Thanksgiving!

 Yep it's another hat, this time for an upcoming birthday. This yarn is new to me, but oh so soft and easy to work with. It's Lionbrand Scarfie Lite and comes in several pretty colors. This color is called Rain and perfect for Seattle! The pattern is one of my favorite "go-tos" for hats. It doesn't seem to be available on Ravelry anymore though.  Oops, the dryer is calling, so I need to run.

Delivered! And a Surprise ~

I figured my friend might be tired of greyish hats, so I made this one for her.

Our crazy mixed up Christmas cactus doesn't know it's almost Thanksgiving. It was tiny when we moved it here from San Diego in 1977.  There are two other of its "children" in our garden window that aren't confused though.😉I wonder when and if they plan to bloom!

 

One More Hat!

 Last night I finished another hat, my third one this month!  The stitch pattern is very nice and not too difficult, so I know I'll be doing THIS HAT again soon. The yarn is a favorite of mine; it's Malabrigo Rios, and the hat pattern is DK Treadhead Hat.
