A Recent Visitor and Some Wind Damage Here

Look what strolled through our backyard this morning! There were two, but that one was faster, and thankfully they didn't stop to prune our roses.

Hope you are having a nice week. It's supposed to snow and rain. Earlier this week we had snow and lots of wind that damaged lots of trees in our area.

This is how it looked before the city chopped the rest of the tree down and cut the branches so they could be hauled away!

A Surprise Outside and Another Hat!

Our camelia bush in the backyard is blooming despite our crazy weather! The snow is gone, but it's been raining ever since.

I finished another hat to donate. It's called the Fern Forest Hat but isn't on Ravelry. However, you can find it on Lion Brand Yarn.

Two Finished Hats

This hat is on its way to Minneapolis where there's been a lot happening. My sister just had a huge snowstorm there, so I think this should help keep her warm. Our oldest daughter is stuck in Fargo, Idaho, at the moment. She and her son were there for a swim meet and are snowed in now! Hopefully they will be able to get back home soon!

Schools were closed on Friday because of the snow here in Bellevue, WA.  It was also very windy, and lots of trees on the road behind our house were severely damaged. One of trees in our backyard lost a couple of big branches but will survive.  I spent my time knitting. Are you surprised?  Anyhow, I finished this hat and will donate it to a local charity.  The yarn is very fuzzy and has little bits of blue, yellow and pink, but that is hard to see in this photo.

They Survived Despite the Snow!

 The three flowers at the bottom that broke in the snow and wind were so happy to come inside that they bloomed! The snow is melting slowly today thankfully.

Signs of Spring Have Vanished!

 

Here's what our backyard looks like today! And the snow is supposed to stick around until tomorrow afternoon! All the crocus are buried and the daffodils got snapped off. Sigh.....

Two More Finishes and Signs of Spring!

I finally finished these mittens after making two right handed mittens! This pattern is a bit challenging. They are knit in the flat and need to sewn together at the end. I think though doing a flat mitten made the colorwork much easier. The original pattern is very feminine with a ruffled cuff.  Since I was making these for a little boy, I changed to the plain cuff.

This hat is knit in the round and a bit challenging. It turned out larger that I expected, so it will be donated.  As you can see, I have lots of red projects, thanks to my online purchase of 3 skeins each of red and white ones! Thankfully, there's only 1 green skein!

I don't know how much longer anyone around will be wearing hats or mittens because we are seeing lots of signs of spring in our neighborhood. Some trees are starting to bud out, and we

have Lenten Roses in our yard as well as crocuses and daffodils!
