Where Did April Go?

April has flown by all too quickly!  First we were gone, and then when we came back home, we were busy catching up.  We spent the early part of the month in the Midwest visiting our older daughter and family. Our days there were filled with the kids' activities, including a swim awards program, and a couple of school visits as well as lots of chatting and hugs. After all these years, and on a lovely spring day, we went into the city of Chicago and finally saw "The Bean."

Millennium Park is huge, and we only saw a little bit of it.  The kids had a great time at the play area, and we enjoyed watching them have fun as well as a great lunch afterwards.

.
We got back home here just in time to celebrate Easter with our other daughter's extended family.  The Littles found lots of eggs with the help of their older cousins.

They also like to explore their own yard!

Speaking of yards, ours is full of blooming plants at the moment:

These three are about done now, but the ones below are just starting to shine.

And not to be out done, the indoor hibiscus surprised me with a flower this week and even a couple more buds!

You may have noticed lots of  unraked leaves in some of the photos.  Our recent rains have made getting out to rake a less than desirable option. (We have had the most rain ever here since they probably started keeping track in 1895!)  Mocha and Ginger don't care about the weather though.  As long as they can find a register to sleep/lie on, they are happy.

Oh, and I have finished a couple of projects, but they are drying now and will have to wait till another post.  Happy Thursday!

Fantastic photos of all your gorgeous blooms and colorful displays. Still to cold here for many blooms (tulips are putting on a grand show), so I'm looking forward to all the blooming trees and flowers. Weatherman says it may snow again tonight and this weekend.

It has been fun watching your grandkids grow up on the blog. I think I started reading just about the time Sophia was born or shortly after that and NOW, Stella is almost a big girl.

We're in the same place as you in the rain department. All records have long been broken. I'm so ready for warmth and blue skies. Lovely photos of your yard and your family.
Blessings,
Betsy

Sounds like such a lovely time visiting family. The flowers are all so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I was only to myself the very same. Where did April go.

That was a fun post. I laughed at the cats hogging the warm air from the heat registers. It's hard to have family living so far away, but glad you had a nice visit. Your flowers are beautiful. Mr. C. just ripped out an entire seven sisters rose bed because they're so invasive and are pretty only for about a week of the year. Hope you have a nice weekend.

Did you see the Picasso downtown Chicago? I just found out that a very old friend of mine has a smaller ( but still impressive) version, made from the original plans. Her father in law owned an Ironworks in Chicago. My friend recently moved from a house to a townhouse/condo in Highland Park and they took it with them. It has become a focal point in the grounds of their new place. JanF

Yes, it's raining a lot here, too. Today is close to 90, high humidity, and partly sunny, but next Thursday, Friday and Saturday are rainy and in the 60s. Your flowers are gorgeous and your travels fun, as always!

Such a beautiful family. You all seem to get along and have so much fun together.
It's been cold and rainy here, too. I'm beginning to feel like I live in Seattle!

Oh such beautiful photos! I'm amazed at your flowers, especially since I have to work hard at growing herbs which are really weeds so you would think it would be easy.

Ah, the Bean. I have a photo of me in front of the Bean and the reflection of me is so horrible that human eyes will never see it!! I think I'm more of a Clothespin or Baseball Bat sculpture girl.
