My Heart Is Back Home!

A week ago the mail brought a very nice surprise: Linda returned my heart after doing a really nice job of embellishing it. Thanks so much! The heart was relatively bare when I sent it off and looks quite different now. I especially like the seam with all the French knots, and the way she attached the beads on the lace flower. That motif fits just perfectly where she put it! My plan had been to add some beads when I got it back....how did she know that? I may add a touch of color to the lace pieces but mostly I need to decide how best to finish it. Hmmmmm. Any suggestions?

That is so pretty; lovely colours and lots of detail. I think I would make it the centre of a little quilt. As inspired by Baumcat!(Love her work too!)

Beautiful! In the COH group, the ladies have finished their hearts by adding them to a quilt, appliquéing them to a pillow, stuffing them, which could also be done using lavender bugs for a scented accessory , and one gal finished them with a backing and strung them around her sewing room.

Hey honey-bunny... That heart is beautiful! I love all the work on it. I am not much on heavy encrusted CQ, and this is just perfect.

Thanks for stopping by and you are more then welcome to come anytime! Ah...San Diego..I love that place, especially Old Town.. Hopefully this summer hubs and I are going to take my MIL for the weekend so she can visit La Casa de Estudillo. I was in awe of this place, and it is pretty much like it was back in 1846. Not to mention the market place and "real" Mexican food.. and then the ships in the harbor..

Thread painting is "painting with thread" actually. It is done using one strand of silk floss and uses the long and short stitch and incorporating soft shading. I know there are some kits out there if you really want to get into it. Here is a link to Berlin Embroidery and if you scroll down to the bottom you can see a sample of how she does it. http://tinyurl.com/yqxzwz

Hi Judy, What a beautiful little heart. Great job on the colors and the stitching. Looks like you have some ideas here to work with. A scented pillow like Pat Winter siad , would be nice. Nice and immediately gratifying ; )..
Thanks alot for coming over to visit me... take care, Jane

I love this heart! One of these days I am going to have to make one. My friend has done several and eventually I will be at that stage in my embroidery journey. LOL
Thank you so much for your sweet comment about my "C" and "E." It is the third one I have done for a wedding. My sister Deborah and my cousin Tanya each got one.
After her wedding in May, I am going to start doing some for those who have already gotten married before I embroidered (my brothers, etc.)
Thanks again,
Wendy

Hey Judy,
I was just wondering if you belonged to any embroidery groups online? I am in 3 of them. Hand Embroidery, Crazy Quilting Sisters, and Crazy Quilting International. Maybe one of those?

Judy,
I have heard of cq for newbies but not wXSw. What is it? I am a moderator at Hand Embroidery so I can get you an invite if you would like. Plus, I think I can get you an invite at the others too. I just have to figure out how to do that. Email me if you would like to get into them. They are full of such great women and fabulous eye candy of amazing women's work.
I am so sorry about your spring not arriving yet. I live right smack in the middle of the high desert so Spring always comes early for us and it practically never snows. Actually, it barely rains. That is why the wildflowers my kids ran through on their blog (Easter morning) http://adventuresofjosephandrebekah.blogspot.com/
is such a great thing for us. We have had an exceptional amount of wildflowers this year but they should be gone before the end of April at least and the area will be barren again.
The pomegranate bush does not seem to be so fortunate though, it doesn't start blooming until later in the summer. Maybe that is why pomegranates are such a fall fruit. Funny though since my apricot and peach tree have lost their blossoms weeks ago. LOL Plants are such fickle things.
Anyway, sorry I took so much space on your comments. I really love keeping in contact with you.
