Knitting and Stitching ~ Off and On the Needles

Our frosty weather is gone, and the rain has returned, allowing time to finish some projects and revisit others. The April Showers sock is growing! I caught up and am ready to start Clue 3 which includes the gussets and some rain drops, as if we need any more. LOL

This week I finished two scarves, another ruffly one and a long-standing UFO. This is the second black sparkly scarf, but this time I was very disappointed in the yarn. It had a 30" piece right in the middle of the ball that was defective, all raveled and without sparkle. The end result was a shorter scarf. :-(   I was upset enough to email the company, and they nicely offered to send me a replacement ball.*

The other scarf is from a very fun Ann Norling pattern and made with Tonalita, a Trendsetter yarn. When I finished I realized that I'd added 2 stitches and that one end is a bit bigger than the other. It hasn't bugged me enough to rip....yet. But it's a good lesson to remember to check the stitch count frequently, even on a scarf!

Lastly, I'm happy to report that all of the blue embroidery lines washed out of my Sunbonnet Sew blocks, and I have half of them sashed. Yay!  Now back to work.......

*UPDATE:  My goodness!  They sent me a package with 3 balls of yarn, a tape measure, a wonderful knitting bag and several patterns for projects using that yarn.  What amazing service!

Great projects! The Trendsetter yarn is breath-taking: I love the colors.

Glad to hear that the sparkle yarn company responded to your email and will be sending a replacement. That doesn't happen very often. Sounds like they have good customer service.

I love the NORO scarf and would never notice the stitch count difference.

Good that the company will send you a replacement good skein of yarn. I love the look of that scarf even though you say its short

YOU are productive

You're a marvel, Judy! Those scarves are beautiful. On the second one, do you do that, or does the yarn do that, i.e. the striping. Amazing!

The teenage sister of a friend of mine just started knitting. Her first project was a cabled hat. Her second was a cabled scarf. Her third is a patterned (like pictures! - can't think what that's called - mittens. The kid is a knitting whiz. I thought of you!! :-)

Is little miss Sophia going to get the Sunbonnet Sue quilt when it is done? It looks perfect for a little girl.

Sorry to hear about your knitty problems. Seems a LOT of yarn companies could use a little more quality control. Both scarves are very pretty.

I tried knitting a little bit on a friend's ruffly scarf. I definitely do NOT have the patience needed for that. LOL

A toe-up sock!! You go girl!! It's really a cute design. I tried toe-up on a pair...and I completed ONE sock. So, it remains in the UFO drawer! I just can't make myself revisit it...yet. Top-down works too well for me. Ha.

Beautiful scarves! Wow. Love the yarns, color, looks of both!

I love that blue yarn Judy! Also, love the colorful scarf, and wow, what service! I guess they really want to keep your business! What kind of patterns did you get?

Your knitting is so nice! I am not a knitter but do love the feel of hand-knitted pieces. I love the ruffled scarf. That had to be frustrating to have the yarn flawed but that company obviously values its customers via their response. The last scarf looks really difficult but the effect is outstanding. SBS is coming along nicely with the pink...and not the blue lines ~ lol. I'm sure that was a relief to you!

I never got around to trying a toe up sock last year, but I've been bugging the new yarn shop owner for one. I'm doing more knitting this year, and I very much enjoy seeing all your projects.

Someone else asked, will Sophia get the quilt with the embroidered blocks? So pretty, and so much work!
