You're Right, It's September! Time to Get Back to Knitting and Sewing....

Despite the fact that earlier in the month we had 9 straight days of temperatures in the eighties and set an all-time record, it is September and will soon be officially FALL. This week though, temperatures are back to normal, and the skies are grey. But during Labor Day weekend, the weather was wonderful, so we went with our friends Denny and Dianne to Flaming Geyser State Park. Located along the Green River, it is south of Auburn off the road to Black Diamond. Apparently lots of people either come to the park to float down the river or to fly model airplanes. We saw both!
The flaming geyser isn't as big as it once was, but nonetheless it's still interesting. The sign said at one time the flame was 6-8 feet high! The trail to a more conventional geyser is closed for repair.
This next photo is for those folks who think moss only grows on the north side of trees. Do not get lost in Washington state!
And yes, I've finally gotten back to knitting and am tackling some long term UFOs. More on this one later.
That's not to say there have been no new projects. This purple hat is the first one I've finished to donate to the "Don't Shake the Baby" campaign at the UW hospital. We'll see how many hats "hide" in one skein of yarn!
That's it for now; I'm off to make some soup for the first time since last spring.

Soup sounds good about now. Cloudy and rainy here on Whidbey. The little purple hat is darling. Do you have more info on the campaign?

What an adorable hat and for a good cause too.

Soup sounds good -- now I just need OUR weather to cooperate. I think I have a few more weeks before soup weather begins.

Wonderful photos again and a lovely hat you have made. Curious...is that an actual flame from the flaming geyser? Is it something to do with a volcano? I will have to google.

Love the hat - and the color! When we get our floor finished and the furniture moved back where it belongs, I need to get knitting on the baby sweater I haven't touched since last winter.

It's definitely soup weather here too. 28 degrees yesterday morning. I've been developing a homemade tomato soup recipe and have a butternut squash soup I need to make again soon.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Must be in the air: I made two pots of soup this week. One was Italian WEdding soup, one was homemade french onion soup. BOth great and easy recipes.

Will have to look at the dont shake the baby campaign...we are just including it officially in our nursery teachings...

Looks so pretty there...I love the moss covered tree! Great idea...making hats...my SIL makes them so fast...I should tell here about donating...she lives in Northern CA...she was looking for a project...I keep busy with Project Linus blankets...but hats would be perfect for her! Your kitty looks happy to be next to you while you're knitting!
