Flowers Inside and Out

We celebrated Easter with part of our family and ate in the partially finished kitchen because the dining room table is still buried with stuff that can't be put away until everything is done. But thanks to these flowers from Catherine and Brent, the table looked very nice anyway. And they're still beautiful over a week later!

We've had a few glorious days that inspired several walks with camera at the ready. If you look really carefully, you can see the Space Needle and Smith Tower which used to vie for "tallest" building in Seattle. No more.

Each spring I look forward to seeing this beautiful trillium. Isn't it amazing? Mine has only 3 blooms, but maybe some day it will look like this one.

The star magnolia seems to have been a favorite yard planting by the builders in our area.

Doesn't this one look pretty with a forsythia behind it?

Our mountains still have lots of snow; in fact we had a tiny bit of snow here last Wednesday evening. Just this morning the paper said most of our native wildflowers are 2-3 weeks behind schedule.

Our unusually chilly spring hasn't stopped these from blooming. Many people detest dandelions, but to me they are a sure sign of spring.

Forget-me-nots are another hardy plant that can grow almost anywhere. I love their bright blue flowers! Sights like these make our walks a pleasure.

Not all of our days have been this lovely for walking, but I've been gainfully employed inside and even had a bit of time to knit. This interesting pattern surprised me with a 3-D effect. It would make a pretty afghan, but I'm going to stop with this hotpad.

My last finish for the month is this prayer shawl for another choir friend who's having some health challenges. Speaking of choir, we are gearing up for our big concert next week! Elijah, will keep us very busy then.

The spring flowers are lovely, especially the tulips. I just LOVE tulips.

What an interesting hot pad. Was it hard to knit?

Hi Judy,

Gerbera daisies are a favourite
of mine when it comes to cut
flowers. They come in so many
vivid, fabulous colours and they
last for a good long time. The
perfect flower for celebrating
Spring.

That photo of the garden and the
view beyond of Seattle is so
awesome!! Is that a park from
which this picture was taken??
Imagine having that view from
your backyard!! The garden full
of Spring flowers is a treat
all by itself.

That Trillium plant sure is
spectacular. Did you know that
the Trillium is the "official"
flower of Ontario??

The white magnolia is lovely too.

So the snow refuses to leave your
State alone eh? Pretty on the
mountain tops but annoying when
it's suppose to be Spring. I hope
last week's snow fall will be
your last until next Winter.

Dandelions are cute until they
change from their flower stage
to their fluffy stage. Then
the fluff blows all over and
the bare stem and ragged leaves
are left behind.

On the other hand I love Forget-me-nots even if they can be quite the invasive plant. That blue is
so gorgeous and the little
yellow centres are the perfect
finishing touch. I remember
seeing lots of these plants
growing in Alaska where they are
the state flower.

Your 3-D floral hotpad is
pretty neat and I would have
loved to see this being created
on your needles. It would have
been interesting to see the 3-D
effect develop. And I always
love your prayer shawls. So
pretty.

It's election night here in
Canada. The polls close in
an hour and then we find out
who will be Prime Minister
tomorrow. Probably another
minority government which
will be (I think) the third
in a row.

Cheers!

What a lovely post Judy. Your photos are wonderful; I've never heard of a trilliun before (tri - 3 petals?)..... and that star magnolia is a stunner!
I love the blue of forget-me-nots but they very cheekily take over your garden if you're not careful; we were once over-run with them!

PS You were right about the clematis :-)

Pretty flowers Judy! Thanks for sharing them.
My hubby's choirs are in full swing with their spring concerts right now. I don't see much of him these days.
Good luck with Elijah!

Your view is awesome...I love it! We still have some snow in our mountains too...but we are having a heat wave right now...it got up to 90 today! It should cool down for the weekend. I love gerber daises...can't wait to see your completed kitchen!

Ah! there's a beautiful picture of that city I love! Beautiful garden shots too! We've been watching the Mariners play...hope your good weather continues. We are already in the 90's and the heat is a bit much for my morning glory vine already.

Thank you for sharing pictures of beautiful spring flowers. We have had so much rain lately, it was nice to see some sun today, though a bit windy. Hope you had a nice Mother's day.
