Where does the time go?

I've been rather delinquent lately in posting, but it seems like the days are flying by and those two weddings are getting closer by the minute. One wedding gift is finished but for the framing, and the other is well under way. I can't show either but will give you a peek at the one that is done.

When I need a break from cross stitching, I get out my knitting needles. My SIL Mary gave me a fun scarf pattern by Ann Norling and some pretty yarn for Christmas, and it's been a really enjoyable project. In fact I started another one with yarn from my stash! Isn't that shocking?

Meanwhile, back in the Midwest, David has turned five. (How can that be? It seems like he was just born!) His current interest is all things related to space travel, but he requested a train cake just to keep things interesting. Thanks to Skype, we got to participate in the party and watch him blow out his candles.

Jill is getting quite good at making special request cakes. So far, she's also made a space shuttle cake, David's request for his dad's birthday.

Sophia's had her first haircut and somehow talked the lady into painting her nails! Auntie Catherine will be so proud. She's in Africa at the moment, and Uncle Carl is in China!

Daniel has his first tooth and is sitting himself up. I'd forgotten making the quilt he's sitting on; it's the first one I made for David.

And here in the Pacific Northwest, we've been told it was the warmest January on record. The witch hazel is still out, but on our walk today we saw heather in full bloom as well as a few plum blossoms and a couple of brave crocuses! And here's the photo we received yesterday from Chicago. I sure hope all that snow melts before we get there next month........ Now, where did I put my needle? It's back to work.

The grands are just darling. That whole concept of time flying is starting to scare me. It just goes faster and faster.

Hi Judy it's good to hear what you're up to! I'm glad you're having a mild winter because we're NOT! That Ann Norling scarf is TDF...and I'm glad you to hear your not wasting any minutes...I have to try to Skype thing for my Dad and see if we can't get him connected...we're going to visit him next week. I suppose we have to download something to his computer so he can know to even go onto Skype...thanks for the nudge...

I got your email earlier this week about the separate CD...I haven't checked the name on the other CD but I know it has "Somebody's Prayin'" (my favorite!) and that other song about "Da Number" which I really like too...Hope that helps...And enjoy the witch hazel, you lucky girl...P.S. I think it may be a bit wishful thinking that you won't have snow in Chicago next month...We're supposed to have a huge snowstorm this weekend and another one mid-week next week...xo Susan

Hi Judy,

Hmmmm.... The teasing glimpse of
your Lizzie Kate design does not
ring any bells in my memory.
But you have to admit that they
have so many designs out, it's
hard to keep track of them.
Can't wait to see the entire
project, when it's safe to show.

Love your rainbow colored scarf.
Such wonderful colors to brighten
a dismal, grey winter's day.

Your little grandson is getting
quite big, and what a grin he's
got. His birthday cake looks
so yummy and I'm sure was a
big hit with the birthday boy.

Your granddaughter must be a
little girly girl judging by the
pink outfit and the pink nail
polish and the jewelery. So
sweet.

We've heard about the warm
weather that you're having
out west. It's being a
problem in British Columbia
where the lower elevations
of the mountains don't have
much in the way of snow
and the Olympics are just
a week or so off. I believe
that snow is being trucked
in to some of the venues.

Cheers!

That scarf pattern is very nice, I'm going to look that one up. I may have a stray ball of yarn or ten myself for scarf like that.

Your grands are growing so fast. I can't believe the baby has teeth!

Enjoy your Spring weather. We're getting a lot of much needed rain here.

Happy Birthday David.. I almost feel like a long lost auntie seeing them growing up so... LOL

I love that kind of chaos
