Bootie Experiment

Sock Booties
A former workfriend, who now is attending grad school in Berkeley, CA, just had her first baby in January, very close to David's third birthday, and coincidentally named her daughter, Sophie. What could I knit for a California babe? Well, I tried an experiment, making booties from sock yarn leftover from Linda's socks. It was a bit of a challenge getting them to match, but I think they turned out OK, and my friend pronounced them "very stylish." All these babies...no wonder I'm behind on David's sweater...and then there's the quilt lineup. Yikes!

The booties are so cute! Sophie is just adorable, love that smile.

Just in case you thought my basket was shuttle tatted, oh how I wish. It was actually needle tatted, which I enjoy. Oh how I would love to learn shuttle tatting. I purchased one of those silver shuttles with removeable bobbin. Well what a time I had dropping the shuttle all the time.LOL Last friday I went to a local quilt show and was told not to learn on that type, but to get the pastic one piece to start. If I would just have someone next to me and show me how to do it would make it so much easier to understand. As for the CQ Lessons, there is a group on the HGTV Quilting board writing up lessons and posting so anyone can follow along. Here is a link to the most recent thread http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5894011632/m/6111043163 and the lessons are here http://crazyquilting.pbwiki.com/
I am also involved in the CQ heart swap. I only have one sewn together so far.

Awwwww, These are so darling!!! You sure are talented when it comes to knitting. I knitted a pair of booties for my niece once (she is now 11 years old) and it was so hard that that was the one and only thing I ever knitted. LOL I am such a quitter. LOL But back to you, these are sooooo cute.

I finally just started making the reversible two color knit blankets for my grandchildren - easy and they don't take too long (and they look impressive!) Granny hasn't the patience she used to for socks and hats! We have a "Sophie" also - but she is now a big girl, at four years old.

Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. I am glad you liked the links. I am so glad that there is so much available online for people like us who like to do crafty things. I am pretty sure that I bought my silk from threadart.com last time. But I got my first big bunch from a friend who bought it for me from ebay which has a good price if you buy in bulk.
I am so glad I found you. I consider you a friend even though I have never met you.
Big Hugs,
Wendy

It looks like you have talents that I don't posess...knitting and I just don't get along. Your booties are looking real cute!
Had I been smarter, I would have just made a posy 4 patch runner rather than the full quilt. !'m down to a 16 square table topper and will still be sewing up a storm. Thanks for all of you kind posts on my blog.

Thank you for your comment Judy. I showed my mum and it brought back loads of memories for her, too. She made me many costumes for ballet - including a grey satin rat for the Pied Piper!! Happy days!
