A Nice Walk on a Hot Day

Happy Flag Day! That photo of Mt. Rainier was taken about a week ago, and since then it's been pretty rainy. That day it  was really hot (for here), so we went to Coulon Beach to take our walk. The day before on our walk in our neighborhood, we watched a bunch of crows chasing a hawk! This time we saw turtles and a heron.

The turtles love to sunbathe.

A little ways down the path, we saw a lot of Canadian geese.  Within the flock was this Mama and her babies.  We chuckled to see the goslings trying to flap their "wings".

At the entrance to the walking/bike path entrance is this cairn.

I added a rock, and then we headed back to our car which was on the other side of the park. It's a fun place to go on a hot day!

Yesterday we helped our church organist celebrate his retirement. It's so hard to see him go, but he deserves some time with his families after 30+ years on the job. (He and his wife liked the cross stitch tray, and I hope they will find it to be useful.)

I have gotten some great ideas for new walking spaces from your blog. I was on Camino Island on Sunday with all the rain but it was still lovely

The turtles are adorable as are the goslings.

What sweet babies! We've been watching a little family of them at the marina and were surprised to see how big they've gotten today. They grow up fast.

Glad you are finding walking routes that are interesting and have shade and good temps too.
Fireman saw a red winged black bird doing a mating dance yesterday. Something IV'e never seen. Google it. It is quite impressive!

I love cairns. Looks like quite a few people had fun making them.

What a beautiful place to take a walk. I love all of the wildlife and the water. I'm already missing water. We had so many lakes around Spokane. The muddy Missouri is no comparison.
I hope the rains end so you can get outdoors again.
Blessings,
Betsy

Thanks for sharing your walk. That's a little farther than I can go right now, but it was fun to sit and go with you. =) I LOVE that rose in your header!
