Back Home and Catching Up!

We've been back home from our family reunion in CA almost a week and have just about caught up on everything that didn't get done while we were gone. We had a wonderful time, and since I wasn't allowed in the kitchen, several knitting projects were finished!!!

I'm not telling when I started these, but the pattern is Patina and the yarn is Lorna's Laces in the color Shorewood (my high school but our color was red and gray). I love the pattern so much I've already started another pair. Maybe I'll finish sooner, but don't hold your breath!

I also finished a prayer shawl for our niece, figuring she could use it as a cover-up while nursing Ben, even though it's too hot to wear it now. I also wanted her to know she was in my thoughts the whole time I was knitting it. Hopefully knowing how much people care will help ease her pain in losing little Alex.

This is one of my favorite photos from our time away.  Sophia and I had some stitching time together, using another Hoop-a-Loops kit.  She didn't  finish it, but we'll work on it again the next time we're together. She's getting quite good with the needle and has the straight stitch mastered!  If you know a child who wants to learn to embroider, check out these kits. They are great.

To see what others are knitting, check out Patchwork Times.

I love the look of pure concentration on Sophia's face as she works her stitches. I am glad you two had some good stitching time together.

The prayer shawl, is lovely and so thoughtful and kind. I'm sorry for the place she is in right now.

The socks are lovely, and I'm right there with you, with how long it takes to finish a pair of socks, despite my best intentions. :) At least it doesn't keep us from knitting them, right?

Lornas laces is one of my favorite yarns. The socks are really nice...that is something I have yet to tackle. The shawl is a very thoughtful gift. I'm sure it will give her a little comfort.

Your socks are fantastic, and not being allowed in the kitchen is a bonus! You niece will feel your love every time she drapes the shawl around her shoulders.

I love the photo of the little stitcher and how absorbed she is in her stitching.

Here's to a great week.

The thought behind the prayer shawl is so lovely Judy. IM sure each day is painful for them still.
I LOVE Sophia working on her stitches. I never learned so I'm really impressed.
As for the socks.....voila!

That is a very pretty sock pattern. Lorna does make some awesome yarns!

I never thought of a shawl as a gift for a nursing mom. That is a brilliant idea.

And I am jealous that you have little ones to craft with. Sophia looks so hard at work. What a sweetheart!

The prayer shawl is such a lovely idea Judy! I know it will bring comfort, and the prayers and loving thoughts you poured into it as it was knitted will surround her in love and hope! So sweet to see the younger generations beginning to exercise their stitching chops!!! And those socks are to die for - wow :*)

Oh, I love Sophia's look of determined concentration! So sweet. And, I can't believe how fast they are growing up. {sigh}

I am so sorry to hear about Alex. I know that little momma's heart is broken and feeling your love wrapped around her shoulders will be a good thing. My sympathies to all. blessings and hugs ~ tanna

Beautiful socks! I'm going to have to add that pattern to my list. The color is gorgeous, too. Your prayer shawl is lovely, too, and means a lot that you were thinking of your niece. Hopefully it will give her some comfort. It's exciting to see the next generation of stitchers at work!!

Your sock color and pattern is great. They look complicated though. What a lovely idea for the shawl and know it will bring her comfort when she wears it. I love to see young kids take an interest stitching of any kind. I started embroidering at a very early age and am still doing some, if I'm not knitting or quilting. It is wonderful that you have someone to teach a life skill to.
