Spring? (and What's on my Needles)
What? Is this an April Fool's joke? We have just returned from 10 days in Chicago where we tried desperately to keep warm and then woke up to this sight today back home here in Washington. Furthermore, it snowed a bit yesterday evening here, too, as we left for choir practice. Not funny! The calendar says it's spring. Hmmmmm....... Maybe the snow and cold followed us home?
While we were gone, we received word of the arrival of another great niece in our family, named Kaitlyn Frances. I hope to show you next week what I knitted for her as it's almost finished. This project on my needles is for a baby scheduled to arrive in August, and it looks like I'm going to have to put it aside for a bit because I just received an invitation to a baby shower for a choir friend and need to make a little something for that occasion.
I started out knitting these socks with the Simple Skyp sock pattern but the Skyp stitch didn't show up, so I ripped and am following the pattern minus the special stitch. The yarn is Lorna's Laces from May 2011 called "The White Witch's Lure". If anyone knows what that is, please enlighten me! I'm almost done with a pair of brown socks for DH and hope to show them next week also. When it's too cold to go outside, there's more time to knit and play with the grandkids. Right?
Check out what others have on their needles at Patchwork Times.

Welcome home. Today, I saw rain, snow, howling wind, and bitter cold temperatures. Yes, it's Springtime in the Rockies.
Your projects are looking good. I love the yarn you are using for both.
The White Witch's lure is Turkish Delight. It is from the Chronicles of Narnia.
The snow picture is pretty, even if you are tired of the cold.
Very nice sock design and color choice. They look great!
Spring?
You always have something so pretty on your needles. Love those colorful socks!
I'm thinking you had the storm from Chicago follow you home...and did you fly over Wyoming? Because we got a burst of cold and snow too!! By the end of next week we're supposed to warm up....brrrr...
Pretty socks!! Baby projects are always so cute too.
Ha! We got 2 inches of the white stuff. Had to drive home in a blizzard from Preston to N. Bend Thursday eve and it snowed on and off all day Friday. Mother nature must have a headache, etc...!
I m sorry our Chicago Weather was rotten!!!
I love all lorna's laces sock yarn.. it stands the test of time!

Your spring is looking like ours! We may have snow flurries the next few days, but highs in the 30s. Finally on the 31st, we're supposed to hit 60. Maybe. This is awful! LOL
Love those socks! I look forward to seeing your baby items. Lucky babies.
Dear Judy,
you were very busy in knitting and the socks and the scarf are perfect for cold and snowy spring days in these lovely colours!
And Max, such a beautiful boy, it's wonderful to see him growing up.
Whish you and your whole family
a Happy Easter
hugs
Gabriele
I'm starting to feel guilty that we don't have any snow here in Houston. But, there is a reason I live here and it has to do with snow.
No snow here but lots of really cold wind. Your knitted blanket is going to be so pretty. I am loving those socks!
Love the socks :0) I too made dishcloths using the same pattern but without the picot edge.
Crispy
PS love that you do both knitting and quilting :0)
