The fun Begins! It's hard to believe that next week, starting on Monday night, all these people and many more will be arriving for Brent and Catherine's wedding. We are going to be busy......having fun!
We've had a few sunny days this week and the flowers are showing their appreciation. We hope the sunshine continues. but we'll be celebrating even in the rain.
Aren't family weddings great?

Snow in April?
What's going on? Yesterday we woke up to SNOW on the roof tops and the grass! Granted, it wasn't a whole lot of snow, but the calendar does say April, doesn't it? And this morning, a tiny hummingbird was right up next to the window, probably wanting to come in away from the snow and rain that was falling. Yikes! I sure hope this isn't indicative of what the weather's going to be like during the rest of the month. Catherine's wedding dress is not made of fur!
Meanwhile in the Midwest, our grandkids are enjoying some sunshine. Maybe they'll bring some of it with them?
We've been chuckling over this photo of Sophia because it reminded us of one of the BRIDE, taken in 1975.
Can you tell that they're related?

The Rest of the......Cross Stitch!
With the exception of our Chicago family, we were all together for dinner on Easter evening, so we gave Catherine and Brent their wedding gift. Over the years I have made many trays to commemorate special family occasions. For this pair, I chose a pattern by Twisted Oaks Designs. It's the Marriage sign from their Pennsylvania Dutch quilt series but in a more muted version of the recommended colors. As you may notice, the BIG day is getting closer!

A Few Knitting Finishes! No Foolin'!
While wedding photos appear to have taken over this blog, a few knitting projects have actually been completed, and two sweaters are awaiting some finishing touches...the buttonbands and seaming. And I've added a few stitches to the Christmas SAL.....
The Lovebird Socks are finally a pair. One problem in waiting so long to finish (second sock syndrome) is that of tension. Even though the second sock has the same number of stitches and mock cables, it's bit larger. Hard to believe with all that's going on here that my knitting is more relaxed!
Preemie hats are a good way to use up leftover bits of yarn. I'll keep this one a while as a sample and then donate it to the NICU at the UW where I volunteer, teaching knitting to antepartum (pre-delivery) moms who are often hospitalized for a long time.
These crazy socks are supposed to entertain babies who aren't yet walking. If Daniel can get them on his chubby feet, we'll see about that.
Happy April Fool's Day everyone! We almost always fall for the traditional NPR trick. I wonder what it is this year?
