What Have We Been Doing?

Whatever possessed us to create this mess? Well, we'll be having lots of company in April, some of whom will need a place to sleep. Since one of our bedrooms has been "off limits," with the bed barely visible, for a really long time, that's been our motivation. Now all the yarn and fabric, as well as miscellaneous stuff, has been sorted and restashed in the closets. As for me, I am on a stash diet!

Almost everything else has taken a backseat to our cleaning frenzy, but I did finish hiding the ends of these two dishcloths though. And since they kind of fit along with the cleaning theme, here they are:

Now, it's back to work!

All that yarn looks pretty deep! Do we see a busy 2010 using all that up? Your washcloths are great!

Have fun!

Wow, do you need any packing "peanuts". We might just have some extras. :)

Did I hear someone say "Craft Sale"?! All of that yarn and your pretty cloths make me think a bunch of crocheted pieces are in the works. If your town/area has a local/county fair, check into being a vendor and sell your finished wares. A great way to make extra money!!!

Whoa, Judy! That is a lot of yarn!!!
Looks like you'll be doing a lot of knitting this year.

Good luck with the reorganizing effort.

Wow... you sure have a collection...I am sure many hours of creations. Really love your dishcloths....do you really use them to wash dishes with? As they are too pretty.

Judy, do I see an antique sewing machine back there? I just love mine!!

And those dishcloths, oh those are wonderful! Scott's grandma used to make those for me. I used them until they fell apart. Grandma is gone now but I have one of her dishcloths left. I only use to wipe off my countertops.

Wish I could say that your stash made mine look small but I think they're about equal. I just don't have much yarn. I don't knit or crochet so I only have a little for my artsy projects.

Oh my goodness girl!! There sure are a lot of dishcloths in that stash!
I had yarn like that for a long time. A couple of years ago I packed up most of it and gave it to a group who knit and crochet laprobes for nursing home. Now, I think I own 10 balls of yarn. Good luck with your decluttering. You are well on your way.

My friend sent me a link to your blog. I sneaked in a photo of my disaster sewing room on my blog the other day. She thought that I should see that I'm not alone. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. I pulled in a big garbage can and started tossing and putting away. Good luck!!

It's amazing what things we'll do for company, eh? It's always a great motivator for procrastinated house chores. I've used those dishcloths in the past... they seem to give a little bit of an extra scrub thab anormal cloth. Good luck with this Judy... I'm really in no better shape than you at present, like a bomb went off here. Is the cat in there with you ??? Word veification was undious... something new Fruit of the Loom is making? LOL

I also spied your antique sewing machine behind the yarn--it looks like a gem. Good luck with your organizing. A usable guest room is good motivation.

First of all, I think it's such an imposition for guests to think that they should actually get to sleep on a bed...all of that yarn looks pretty cozy to me...

And I spied a diet coke can, a candle graveyard and I think, a ladybug pillow?? SO SO SO glad to see that somebody else's spare bedroom is full of yarn! Mine too~

Oh my goodness Judy..... I suddenly don't feel so guilty about hoarding art materials!! My mum would think she was in heaven in that room; she's a 'collector of wool' too. I really love your washcloths; what yarn do you use?

Gerry said...

I sympathize with you completely! Do you find yourself wondering - "How did this happen?" LOL!!!!

Just remember that those totes make great tables for hiding in plain sight, they also stack nice and tall to take up empty wall space - just call it an art project, and you can always stuff a few of them under the beds!

Good luck :-)

Hey, that's a serious wool stash! I am determined not to let my wool stash get out of hand, like my quilting stash! I really like Dishcloth #2, like that yarn too. Can you tell me what kind you used?

This is funny! You have some fabulous yarns! Lucky you!!
I am trying very hard to keep my yarn stash to a minimum but gosh, there are so many pretties out there and what if i get stuck at home with no yarn??? That won't happen.

Hi Judy,

Holy Cow!!! Look at all that
yarn stash!! Have you ever
considered opening your own
knitting store???? I guess
they tend to take up a bit more
storage room then cross stitch
stash since balls of yarn don't
lie flat, one on top of the
other.

The dish cloths look so pretty
with their many pretty colors.
It would make washing the dishes
with them almost fun! Almost.

Good luck with the decluttering!

Cheers!

OH my and I thought I was bad. Look at that stash. You will be knitting til the cows come home.LOL. I was on a crusade for days trying to get organized and then I fizzled out (again). You have inspired me to get back at it, dear friend. I just can't seem to get organized..... Talk to you soon, we need an intervention day!?!

Dear Judy
You have much work ahead of you - hopefully you've done in the time everything, and you can look at this beautiful room!
I will ask next week our whole house upside down ... - it is the time in favor. :-)
