Another Shawl

This was an interesting project! It's made from a silk yarn by LoominEssence. The pattern says that upon completion it should be professionally pressed to flatten the silk nubs. I had to do a bit of convincing at the dry cleaner, but they did it, and the end result is rather like a very airy fabric. Catherine liked it and plans to wear it next week. Who could ask for more than that?

Crystal Palace Shawl

This shaw was made using a free pattern from Crystal Palace with their kid mohair and Little Flower yarn. It was fun and easy to do, but the fringe may tangle easily. Jill seemed to like it!

Noah's Ark BOM

Once I stumbled onto these cute free patterns at the website of Lynette Anderson, I knew they had to be stitched. You can double click to see the details better. As of today, I think I'm caught up and anxiously awaiting June's design. I hope to make a quilt when all twelve parts are completed.

Fun in the Midwest

Four Generations!
While we were in Chicago, we took the opportunity to go visit my uncle and aunt in Wisconsin. Uncle Howie, my dad's younger brother, turned 90 this spring, and I think he looks just great. It was fun to take a four generation picture.
Oma and Sophia
Here I am holding Sophia who was 9 months yesterday!
Jill's Red-bellied Woodpecker
Dick took this photo from Jill's doorway; we aren't sure whether this is THE bird that's been attacking their house, but it sure loves this tree!

Done and Delivered!

We just got back from 10 days in Chicago, visiting our daughter's family. I was working on weaving in the ends on this sweater almost until the plane took off. He put it on once, and it's a little big....should be just about right when sweater season returns in the fall. I changed the pattern from rainbow colors to 6 shades of blue and had enough yarn left for a hat and then some.

We had a wonderful time, but it's good to be back home again.

It's Finally Spring!

Spring Tulips
This was a busy knitting week: I finished another baby hat and booties, the shawl, and David's sweater. We also spent some time in the garden as the weather has finally begun to warm up. The one plus in the cooler weather is that the daffodils and tulips have lasted much longer than usual! Now I hope to have time to do some stitching and quilting, both of which have been neglected for a while.

A Finally Finished Project

Dropped Stitch Shawl
I finally finished this UFO after frogging it and starting over because I hadn't been doing it correctly. Unfortunately I ran out of yarn and had to improvise at the end, but I think it turned out nicely anyway and am going to give it as a birthday gift. It's a fun and rather quick pattern, only next time I'm going to get a spare ball of yarn. (That wasn't an option this time as the company has quit making that type. Now you know how long ago I started this project!) Click twice to see the "real" color, dark navy with flecks of red, green, blue, and yellow.
